Port Fourchon – Slip D Bulkhead Expansion

Infrastructure

Building Critical Port Infrastructure

Dynamic is serving as the prime contractor for the Greater Lafourche Port Commission on the Slip D Bulkhead expansion project. This complex marine construction project strengthens one of the nation’s most vital energy and commerce hubs, enhancing both resilience and capacity for Port Fourchon’s future growth.

Dynamic’s Scope of Work

The project requires extensive marine and deep foundation construction within an active, high-traffic port. Dynamic’s scope of work includes:

  • 1,641 linear feet of AZ-36 steel sheet piling
  • 42,740 linear feet of 14” prestressed concrete piles
  • 25 reinforced concrete deadman footings with Dywidag rod tiebacks
  • Wide flange beam waler system and 12” pipe bumpers
  • Timber cap walkway and 24” mooring bollards installed at 50-foot intervals
  • 11,500 cubic yards of lightweight backfill and construction of a 500’ access road
  • Drainage and site improvements integrated with ongoing marine operations

Technical Highlights

The Slip D Bulkhead Expansion project demonstrates Dynamic’s ability to deliver large-scale, high-precision marine infrastructure under challenging site conditions:

  • Driving 38,000+ LF of concrete piles on a 1.5:1 batter
  • Maintaining precision alignment through continuous surveying
  • Coordinating with regulatory stakeholders in a constrained, high-traffic zone
  • Integrating structural concrete, engineered fill, and advanced marine tieback systems

The Results

This expansion project strengthens Port Fourchon’s infrastructure and delivers measurable benefits:

  • Increased bulkhead capacity to support expanded vessel operations.
  • Enhanced structural resilience to withstand Gulf Coast storm events.
  • Improved marine logistics efficiency for one of the nation’s most critical ports.
  • Reinforcement of Dynamic’s reputation as a trusted partner for coastal, port, and marine infrastructure projects.

Result: A modernized port facility that ensures Port Fourchon remains at the forefront of U.S. energy and commerce for decades to come.
