Dynamic Group Welcomes Zach Butterworth as CEO, Expands Leadership Team

Dynamic Group is excited to announce important updates to our leadership team that will strengthen our capacity, broaden our perspective, and position us for continued growth.

Zach Butterworth has joined Dynamic as Chief Executive Officer. Zach is an attorney with deep experience in disaster response, recovery, and public-sector procurement. Throughout his career, he has worked across government and the private sector to strengthen how communities prepare for and recover from disasters. He has helped secure critical federal recovery funding, drive legislative reforms, and coordinate complex recovery operations.

Zach’s background includes senior roles in Congress supporting Gulf Coast recovery efforts, work on post-Katrina resilience and infrastructure initiatives with the City of New Orleans, and serving in the White House as Director of Private Sector Engagement. In that role, he worked closely with business leaders and senior administration officials to address supply chain disruptions, mitigate the impact of cyberattacks, and coordinate federal disaster support. Most recently, Zach was a partner at a Washington, D.C.–based firm, advising business leaders navigating complex challenges.

Dynamic Group founder and outgoing CEO Josh McCoy will step into the role of Chairman, continuing to play an active, day-to-day role in the company’s work. “Dynamic is already a strong company,” said Zach. “My job isn’t to change what’s working, it’s to build on it. I’m grateful Josh is staying in the action. He’s a visionary in this industry and unmatched at building teams and spotting the next opportunity.”

As part of this transition, Scotty Mahler has been promoted to Executive Vice President for Operations, and Matt Hughes has been promoted to Executive Vice President. These appointments recognize the critical leadership that both Scotty and Matt have already demonstrated, and ensure that Dynamic continues to grow with the right team in place.

“For me, this is about expanding the strength of our leadership team,” said Josh. “My vision for this expansion is to bring in fresh ideas and energy while staying true to our culture, our values, and the way we show up for our clients, partners, and the communities we serve.”

Zach, a Louisiana native, holds a Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana State University and a law degree from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. A passionate outdoorsman and former U.S. Coast Guard–licensed captain, he enjoys spending time outside with his wife and children.

Dynamic is proud to welcome Zach to the team and looks forward to the future we’ll build together.
