In the fall of 2022, Dynamic partnered with St. Amant High School to host students in a Career and Technical Internship program. During this partnership, students worked under the guidance of Dynamic’s Senior Program Manager, Mike Lasher, and their teacher Marcy Mahler to input data, handle permits, pull information from Carbon, and perform some manual labor. Josef Schexnayder, Dynamic’s intern, said he sees the value of working in the industry while still in high school. He hopes to make Dynamic a vital part of his future career.
With the help of Sarah Lasher, Nick Haslem, Chris Fink and A.J. Hubert, Josef had the opportunity to experience aspects of several projects. With high schools moving towards students earning industry credit and gaining job experience prior to graduation, Mahler said Dynamic’s participation in the internship program is cutting edge. It is vitally important for students in the JumpStart Graduation program to have these opportunities to truly see what the industry is like prior to graduation. Josef received his electrical and level 2 carpentry certification early in the program. He was able to apply those skills to real-life situations during his internship.
On April 25, 2023, Dynamic recognized Josef during the St. Amant High School Career and Technical Awards ceremony for successfully completing the Construction Management internship program. During his time with Dynamic, Josef worked on several projects, including Restore LA, Southern University, and Orphan Wells. This program was the first of its kind at St. Amant High School with the hopes that this experience would open the door to many more opportunities for students in the construction pathway.
