Building Long-Term Flood Protection in Southeast Louisiana alongside the Army Corps: West Shore Lake Pontchartrain Project

Dynamic’s team is on the ground in Southeast Louisiana, helping deliver one of the region’s most significant flood protection systems: the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain Project.

As part of this $3.7 billion initiative, Dynamic is performing critical levee and floodwall construction along two reaches – 106 and 109 – designed to provide 100-year storm surge risk reduction for communities across St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, and St. James parishes.

Delivered in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, CPRA and regional stakeholders, this work represents a major investment in protecting lives, infrastructure, and economic activity along the west shore of Lake Pontchartrain.

Project Highlights

Dynamic’s work showcases our deep expertise in heavy civil construction, challenging geotechnical environments, and working within constrained, high-traffic environments.

Key elements of the work include:

• Construction of 5,100 linear feet of levee system
• Installation of deep foundations, including H-piles and 36-inch steel pipe piles
• Development of a cast-in-place concrete T-wall structure
• Placement of compacted clay, wick drains, and engineered fill
• Drainage excavation and site work within the I-10 corridor
• Continuous surveying and third-party testing to meet strict federal standards

This project also requires close coordination with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to minimize disruption along Interstate 10, one of the state’s busiest transportation corridors.

Why It Matters

The West Shore Lake Pontchartrain Project is one of the largest civil works efforts in Louisiana history, designed to reduce storm surge risk for more than 60,000 residents in the River Parishes.

This system, which includes levees, floodwalls, drainage structures, and pump stations, is built to defend communities that have historically faced significant flooding during major storm events.
